SJVRR Schedule

When We meet

The club meets on Wednesday and Friday evenings from 7 to 10 PM, EST, at the clubhouse in Mishawaka. We occasionally hold special (unscheduled) work details or run sessions on other days and/or times. Occasionally we schedule "rail fan" trips as well as outings to other clubs. To view our monthly schedule of events or other non-scheduled ‘special events’, refer to the list below.

Non-members are always welcome to visit us at scheduled times. For directions to the club click here

Visiting the SJVRR

If you would like to visit the SJVRR, the following paragraphs outline our business, operational and working sessions. You are always welcome to visit and (unless we are conducting official club business) will be offered a brief tour of the layout by one of the clubs officers. (jc11/04)

Monthly Business

Our regular Business Meetings are held the first week of every month. We alternate our meeting from Wednesday to Friday nights. All meetings are held at our clubhouse and begin at 8PM Indiana time. Meeting minutes from the previous two meetings can be found on the 'News' page

Operations

Monthly Run Sessions

The second week of the month is Operations week. We are currently using Rail Op software for card forwarding and switch lists.

We try to run in multiple eras even though we are building a steam to diesel transition era layout. So if you do stop by a run session, you may seem modern equipment as well as period equipment. Mostly we try to run 1950's equipment but there are all interests in the club and we try to accommodate them all.

Special Run Sessions

From time to time we will hold a special run session. This could be on a Saturday and be a "Members Only" day or any other night when we invite other clubs or groups to stop down and operate. If your club or organization is interested in setting up a time to stop by and run let us know. We'll be more than happy to try to set something up.

Sessions

Work Nights

Meeting nights, not scheduled for a business meeting or run session, are considered work nights. This is when construction and maintenance of the layout occurs. Members are generally assigned projects and you will usually find them working on them at these times. (mjc11/04)

Events and Trips

From time to time we sponsor railroad related trips throughout the area and beyond. The club has done everything from trips to the Wheaton IL GATS Show on the ‘South Shore’ and ‘Metra’ lines to a recent fan-trip where we rode nine trains in one day. Return here often, as we will post a schedule of upcoming trips as soon as we can finalize the details. (mjc11/04)
